Vest For Sale

After paying $16-20k (depending on manufacturer) for them, those vests had better be the property, free and clear, of the individual who purchases them.

But yes, it does take a significant amount of time- in our case it took insurance a few years to pay for Emily's vest- during that time we were considered to be 'renting' it from HillRom. At this point we own it and will have a lifetime warranty as long as she is in possession of it; I know the warranty cannot be transferred to another person.

I am in complete favor of donating to another person in need as well... so many cannot obtain the much-needed equipment that can add so much to qol and even add years of life...

The old model vest (that big old dinosaur of a machine) could not be 'owned.' You still had to pay the 16k-20k after insurance but it was never fully yours. It has to go back to the company. The newer, smaller models I believe you can own them once everything is paid off.

It is ILLEGAL to sell medical equipment. Furthermore if the insurance company paid for it and you sell it and they find out... Insurance fraud. Guess who has no more insurance. It's a Federal Law that you can not sell medical equipment... OWNING IT OR NOT.

Also you have ONE post on this forum, THIS POST. and you joined THE DAY BEFORE. Sounds like someone who found out Vest cost a lot of money and STOLE one from a hospital.

EDIT: Say what you will but it seems REALLY weird. Something you might want to consider if you are legit.
I gave my 104 vest back to my CF center and they gave it to a family that had two CFers in it and one was going to college.. I almost gave my inCourage vest away as well but luckily I did not because not that I am culturing Mac they put me back on the vest.

I also am in agreement with giving your vest away.. I was at one point really hurting for money and I almost sold me vest to as well. I am glad I gave it away and it went to good use. I understand you wanting to get back in it what you paid for it and I won't accuse you of steeling it.. but I will agree it is illegal to sell medical equipment because technically you would be practicing medicine without a license since you need a presciption for the vest and you are not in a position to fill a presciption

I was told to keep my vest, even post trans. There may come a day when you need it again. I haven't had to use mine but I'm gonna hang on to it like I was told. Good luck.
