Vest machine and soot from house fire

Anyone have a vest machine get a layer of soot from a house fire. We had a small fire and no one was injured, but the vest machine happened to be in the family room attached to the kitchen and has a layer of grey soot on it. The fire clean up team came out that the home insurance company sent and suggested replacing the machine and not using it in the mean time. Has anyone had this happen? I can't call Hill Rom until they open on Monday.

I'm so sorry to hear you had a fire! :(

I really thought Hill rom had a 24 hour customer service number but I must be crazy. That's really stinky that you have to wait until Monday now.

I guess I would agree w/Love and say to do manual CPT til Monday. Sorry I don't have any better advice!

The cloth vest came clean in the washing machine and my daughter used my vest machine motor part. What a mess this clean-up is.

You aren't breathing the air from the Vest. Clean it the best you can and use it. If it works great. If it doesn't Hill Rom will replace it very quickly. At least you should try to use it.

Thanks for the advice, yet another great customer service experience from Hill Rom. They are overnighting a new vest machine and hoses and I will send them the dirty machine to be cleaned. FYI the fire restoration team explained not to use anything with an airintake with soot from a fire in it because you can have an electric fire.

My daughter's machine suddenly "died" late Friday night. She immediately called Hill-Rom even though she knew it was after-hours. At first she was frustrated because she was unable to connect with anyone who could assist her. Then she reached a number where she was able to leave a message. Early Saturday she received a reply call from a lovely lady who promised that a new machine would be delivered early Monday morning. It was. Hill-Rom really does have great customer service (once you connect with the right person). Anyway, this is just to verify that you can call Hill-Rom after-hours and on weekends and get a response.
