Is it safe to take the vest on an airplane. Are there any special requirments from the airlines to be able to take it? This is the first time we are traveling since dd was diagnosed and I'm looking forward to see my familiy. My husband's family are not very close so I'm looking forward to take dd to meet my family. Please I need advice.

Yes, you can take your vest & other equipment with you.

Carry the Vest on, DO NOT CHECK. It is way too expensive to trust them to check. It does NOT count towards your carry-on allowance as long as it is medical equipment.

Likewise, you can carry your neb compressor, meds with you. You will need to separate any meds (esp. liquids) into a carry-on bag and let security know what it is. They will hand inspect it and you should not have any issues.

Hope you have a great trip.

Yes, definitely carry your vest on with you. I made a terrible mistake of letting them "gate check" it because the plane was so small. Well the vest still worked but there was a 10 inch crack down the side. Never again will I allow that to happen.

Hopefully you have one of the newer vests that is light(er) and a bit easier to travel with. If you have any questions please PM me.

If you want some other feedback on traveling with a CFer....you could do a search for older threads.

Fortunately we have many members that dont let CF stop them from traveling. We have members that travel the world <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
