Took it last January and one of the planes was a smaller one and it still fit in the overhead compartment. Had meds and compressor in another carry on and did fine.

We've travelled for years with our vest and like others have said, carry it on- don't check it. Bummer, Em, about it cracking. Did "The Vest" replace it?

The only problem I ever had was with Continental Airlines on a small commuter plane going from Newark to Jacksonville. The flight attendent was very rude and gave me a hard time. She insisted that it go below so what was I to do? The bins were very small and I don't think it would fit anyways. Plus I didn't want to make a stink and get arrested. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif" border="0"> But, they did have it waiting for me as I got off the plane-like they do the stroller checks. But I was very nervous...

Anyways, that was just one experience out of about 15+ trips I've taken it on. And I don't fly Continental if I can possibly avoid it.

One more thing- allow extra time for security. They have to take the whole thing apart out of the bag and it takes time. We did almost miss a plane because of that (and other things that had happened that morning) so don't cut yourself short. Better safe than sorry!

Have a great trip! In fact, we'll be flying soon, too- from Seattle to Florida (my mom lives in FL).

Cheers!

We had our docs write a letter, saying all the things necessary for the boys to have at all times. Just so there are no questions about the medical supplies and medications.
They do open up the vest to check it out, as it is metal and the x-ray machines cannot see inside it.

blessings,
missa

Thanks for all the advice I appreciate it. I'm looking forward to see my family but not to deal with all the hassle of traveling. DD is DDF508 and almost 4 years old. She hasn't seen her grandmother and aunts in almost 2 years. Thanks again.
