Thanks ya'll! Im not sure how the acapella works. I was thinking you just blow into it.
Amy, the meeting was great! I blogged about it. Thanks for asking.

Actually, you just breathe through the Accapella, but you have to be able to follow the directions and adjust the dial to suit your needs <img src=""> . I use my accapella (or my flutter, if I do it in the shower) when I am sick, in addition to the vest 2x a day. If I am only going somewhere overnight for 1 night, I just take my accapella, since I will be doing my vest once a day during that time- in the morning before I leave, and the next day in the evening when I get home.

I do use acapella instead of the vest. I didn't like the vest and I didnt feel it worked that great for me. The acapella works and I like it. Which of course means I do it regularly which I know we all agree is the real key. I think it's about what you will use in reality. However, I would say there is more to the acapella than "just blowing into it" I do it using Pep and I think it works a lot better that way than just blowing. So I think I would have to agree that acapella would probably be better for older patients. Maybe 10 and up.

I meant to say the other day that Although Garran does the Acapella he still does the vest. he just doesnt like the vest. but he is able to get alot of gunk out using the acapella. The main reason we wanted it was for long trips in the car when the vest was not readily available and he could get his treatments on time. thats another reason I want to look into the E-flow, not for daily use but for trips and such.

I hope i didnt mislead you with the information I gave you. I wouldnt want to get rid of the vest because it is such a better means of airway clearance all around. But the accapella is helpful for times when he cant do the vest. Plus he actually wants to do the acapella, so I let him go ahead and do it inbetween vest treatments. It has really helped his breathing doing these extra treatments and he doesnt cry and complain the whole time...

Talk to you soon!
