Vest

Well, we used the vest for the last two weeks, I took them back to the hospital today. We will dicuss the topic at the boys next CF Clinic appointment.
Mikey loved the vest, he finally started to cough up crap and spit it out! (He always coughed but swallowed the mucos). Now we just have to get the funding for it.
Brandy on the other hand didnt like it at all, at first he got really nauseated and tired. After a while he got used to it, but always wanted me to do manual percussion. He didnt like how time consuming it was, he didnt like how it felt, he said it didnt feel like it was doing anything for him and he stopped spitting up his gunge.
I personally didnt like it, Ive been doing percussion since they were three months old, it was a bonding moment of sort. I missed our chats about school, about girls and about who was doing what, lol. Every evening especially, we would all talk about our day........its so hard to sit them down and talk when they are constantly on the go, lol. So for now Im happily going back to beating my kids!

Its great that you "miss" that time. The fact that you made it quality time during the beatings. Its double the benefit then.

I understand what you're saying about bonding. But that can be done if you sit next to the kid while doing the Vest as well.

You might want to read up on studies that have been done comparing manual CPT to the Vest and which might be better for your kid's lungs.

If it was just a matter of ME not liking the vest it would be a different story. As I said Mikey loves it and we are trying to get the funding for him.
But Brandy hates it and feels that it is doing nothing for him.
And to try talking about our day when he was feeling unwell and miserable just wasnt going to happen!
What is better for one isnt necessarily better for another........

We do a lot of things in life that we don't like to do because we know it's good for us. If we all made decisions in life based on what we like and what we don't like, I wouldn't ever do my meds and I would have probably been dead 10 years ago. I don't like my nebs - but I do them anyway because I know they're good for me. I don't like exercise, but I do it anyway cuz I know it makes me healthier.

I'm only looking out for the kid. You will see a difference in their health over the long term if one uses the Vest and the other doesn't I would be willing to bed.
