I am recently starting to give into the idea of a vest. I have no idea what kind is good or which is better if there are different kinds
also how long does it take?? can you do your nebs while doing the vest too? Does it really help?
Any information would help because up until this point I just said no whenever the word vest was mentioned so I never paid any attention to the RT's explanation.

My daughter has a vest from RespirTech. I've never used any other on her, but it is so easy to use that she does everything by herself except for plugging it in.She hooks herself up and starts it (a pre-programmed 30 minute session), knows how to pause it for a potty break, and re-start it again. She gets hooked up to her vest with each of her nebs. Kills 2 birds with one stone. I can tell it helps her since she doesn't do it while she is at her father's house every other weekend (it goes with her, but he doesn't make her hook up). She comes home with a really horrible cough and I have to try to get it under control again.

As far as finding one, the hospital did all that for me. I just got papers in the mail for insurance purposes. Give the RT a call and ask about it.

I have used the Vest for about 8 years, and I love it. I use the HillRom Vest. You can do Duoneb/Albuterol, Pulmozyme, Hypertonic Saline all while you are doing the Vest. The only thing my doc says not to do while doing the vest are Tobi/Colistin.

I don't know what type of chest therapy you are currently doing, but I would highly recommend giving into the Vest! It's the easiest thing in the world to do. When I was in college, that was always my homework time because I had to sit at my desk for 30 minutes! LOL. A lot of times now if I'm home with free time, I'll just put the vest on and do some shaking while I'm playing online or something.
