Did any of you see the quick news update the other day, on Viagra as a way of potentially helping pulmonary fibrosis patients? I just can't help but think of the side effects! That's the weirdest thing.

Here's a link to a short description:

And I'm wondering if someone has pulmonary fibrosis, but no cysts, does that mean they have half the seriousness of CF? They have fibrosis scarring, but no cysts. Sounds better then having both. Does anyone know someone with fibrosis only?

Viagra was originally being tested for treatment of pulmonary hypertension when it's more, umm, profitable effect was discovered. I know several CFers who take viagra for pulmonary hypertension, and my doctors have wanted to put me on it several times. I passed, seeing as my hypertension is not too severe, and also being a female in my mid-20s I didn't want to have to add viagra, of all farking things, to my list of meds.

I also just recently heard of Viagra being used to treat pulmonary hypertension in infants and young children from my pharmacist. I have mild pulmonary hypertension, but have NOT had this brought up to me as a method of treatment. Mine is also mild.

Take Care,
Lindsey

Yup I'm sure all the wives/girfriends would be oh so pleased (well at least for the first few days of it) that their partner was precribed it! LOL And the stories of embarrassing/awkward moments would go on and on! I could imagine it now "I now sit the closest spot to the door so incase of the 'accidental effect' when the bell rings I can just get up and run before anyone sees me" or "I was in a meeting with my boss/secretary and I didn't realise it untill I got up to shake her hand at the end of the conversation and saw her quick glance down and back up then quickly cut me off and left, to my shock the dreaded bulge was there, again!" It would be hilarious you must admit!

That old phrase "sit on my lap", would change to "After I take my meds, let's talk about the first thing that comes up!"

Oh, and that's one drug I KNOW is available in Japan...a 70 yearish boss from my former company actually asked me to translate the label!! (LOL!) He then made a bad comment about going to try it out in Tokyo's 'Red District'! (Red District=Cabaret City!)

But, seriously, I heard there were dangers regarding the heart when taking this medication.
Just hope I don't have such a condition to have to use it, it would be 'hard' for me to travel to work by train, anymore!
