Vile tasting sputum....

I have this on occasions. It is horrible tasting and normally there is a ton of it when I am sick, it is tastes bad enough to make me gag and want to throw up. I have noticed that it is at its worst when I am sick with some type of lung infection or if my MRSA is flaring up- so to speak.

I have had this occur more since I stopped culturing Psuedo than before when I was culturing it regularly. I am not saying that you have MRSA - I am just saying what I think contributes to the problem for me.

I had this about two months ago. I was already been treated for an infection. I was put on clindomycin tablets. They told me it was something about whatever the bug was, it wasn't showing up on samples..it cleared up anyways. If I can remember the scientifics of what I was told I will come back and post it!

What you describe is what I taste when my pseudo or cepacia gets out of control. It also has a musty type of odor on top of that vile taste and look. The cepacia is worse...it tastes like rotten grapes, and smells like rancid vinegar. Very hard to keep an appetite when I can taste it. My family can also smell it on me...that's when I go for cultures to see what is growing and how much. Usually by that point, I have fevers and other symptoms too.

happens to me occasionally... one time inparticular i just finished a treatment and took a coughing fit and coughed up a little hard ball and evidently that was blocking off a portion of my airway cause i coughed up some really really really nasty crap following that little ball and it talked so bad that every time i coughed i gagged as the taste and to even breathe was enough to make me sick at my stomach... this went on for about an hour or so until i finally got that wicked crap out... only time thats ever happened and that was about 4 years ago...

Eileen, I do the same thing!! I eat either peppermints, sour candies anything that masks the taste of that vile bug!!! I rinse my mouth all of the time too, but sometimes it just isn't enough. Do you feel that everyone in the room can smell your breath? (or in my case, the vent?) I do and I feel self conscious about it sometimes.
