vitamin C

Hi again.
Does anyone take vitamin C on a daily basis? Have you heard whether this is recommended for CFers? I recently started taking 500 mg per day and my dietician say it was "fine" to do, but didn't seem like it was necessary. I would think having a lowered immune system due to CF, vitamin C would be a great way to stay as healthy as we can. I just can't find very much research on vitamins and their roles in CF other than ABDEK. Any input would be great!

Hi,
overhere for our 22 month old daughter we give daily ADECK vitamins. This is medics, so these vitamins are not naturals but synthetized. As an addition we give 1 tea-cup of "Hippophae rhamnoides " by WELEDA (http://usa.weleda.com/ingredients/ingredient.asp?id=197) which contains full of vitamin C.
Vitamin C is supposed to "boost" the chloride canal. But too much vitamin C is also not recommended.Take care.

I have been taking 8 grams of vitamin C a day (4 grams in the morning and 4 grams at night) for about 10-12 years. I found my bowel tolerance level and backed off my dosage slighty to where I wasn't causing diarrhea. After becoming aware of Dr. Linus Pauling's ( http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/ ) research with massive dosing of Vitamin C, I thought I would give it a try. And yes, I take this high dose with the consent of my doctor. I think he figures that I simply pee most of it away, so it is my choice to waste my money. I can't tell you of any particular effects positive or negative, but I fully intend to continue to dose at this level.
