I agree with ymikhale and would be on the alert for reflux as much as anything that seems related to congestion- is he spitting up at all or has he added new foods to his diet?
eta> and no, not a silly question at all!

No, he is not spitting up. He vomited one time last week after his Aquadeks, but honestly that stuff makes me want to vomit too! I cook all of his baby food, and he is getting new foods each week, but I don't think the food has bothered him at all. He takes Zantac 3 times a day, and has not had any stomachache problems since he was a newborn (before the Zantac). He's not sleeping very well though, so maybe he does have some reflux issues going on.

Nighttime reflux can be a big problem for some with cf... I imagine that could cause considerable throat irritation to go with it that could cause 'frogginess' or hoarseness. At it's worst, it can also be responsible for aspiration that can lead to nasty exacerbations. Is it possible he needs an increase in his Zantac dose, since you know it's been an issue in the past?

Any acidic foods on the menu yet? I know you prepare all his foods and it's absolutely NO insult against what you are feeding him when I ask. Sometimes it's just takes time for their little tummies to tolerate everything, especially with digestive issues like our cf kids have. I hope you figure it out or it just goes away, never to return or be a problem ever again.

Harriett: Not sure how acidic these are (never had a problem myself). So far, he gets sweet potatoes, brocolli, carrots, green beans, sweet peas, butternut squash, apples, pears, bananas, strawberries, mango, peaches, papaya, blackberries. What do you think? He did fight for straight bananas. Cried while eating. My husband gets a burning in his throat after bananas (none of the other kids do). When I mix them with strawberries, he does fine though. Ever heard of this?
