We actually hired an agency that specializes in environmental safety. I thought I'd repost on this topic since people are always looking for ways to keep their homes safe for their children. The man charged us $150 to take samples of what was in the air.
He did not find an elevated mold spore count, and no Aspergillus mold at all. He did find a lot of microscopic particles, cellulose, fiberglass in the air, and thinks it is due to inadequate air filtration.
He recommends HEPA air filters and a free-standing air purifier. He recommends checking out all the gutters and downspouts because of a musty smell, and getting new windows because of "sweating".
He recommendned a book called My House is Killing Me that is available online and I ordered it today.
I thought it was $150 well spent. The guy doing the testing actually was a retired ER doctor. I told him we keep asking the professionals how to make our environment safe for Sam, and they keep telling us nothing is a big deal. He said he did the same thing as a doctor because you just don't think about it, and you don't know what the person's house is like. Now he thinks a lot more about it, and was very helpful.
