Wanting 2nd Granddaughter Tested

Oh, this sounds so familiar, my husband and I were in denial of our 4th child. We knew she didn't have cf because of an aminio, but when grandma mentioned something just isn't right when she was about 1- we just pushed it aside for quite awhile. Until the seizures started. It is to hard to think of another child with cf (or another disorder) You sound like you are doing a great job. I would just keep pressing to get her tested, but remember this is so hard for them as parents and it may take a little time.

Thanks for all your support.....I am staying on them, they have another dr appt for this fri and I hope that they take my advice and inform the doctor about the family history...Lyric is my oldest son's daughter and is cousin to Grayson. She has been treated for upper resp. infections and sinus problems since birth. Also is underweight and eats like a little piggy. I pray that she doesn't have CF but I just want to have the doctor informed because they are saying she might have allergies or bronchitis or blah blah blah......this baby has had a continueous sinus infection and upper resp problems since birth. I want it to be allergies but if it is CF now is the time to get started on treatments.....Gosh, I feel like such a nag!

Don't feel like a nag! Just explain to them that you love your sweet granddaughter very much and that you understand that no one wants something to be wrong with Lyric, but that you just want the doctor to know the family background, just to be on the safe side.

Speaking from experience, I really wish that someone would had been more of a 'nag' with me when Kayla was having so many problems...I just never really understood how real the risk was that I could possibly have a baby with CF. I thought what were the odds that I could carry the gene and also marry a CF carrier?! I really thought the odds were slim to not possible.
