Wanting to get a tattoo

i love my friend's tattoo - "y ahora no hay trueno" - in script, kind of in a wave-like pattern on her shoulder blade. it means "and now there is no thunder" in spanish. it's obviously meaniful to her and she speaks spanish and studied in spain... just an idea. i never thought of getting a phrase like that, but it's so simple yet meaningful and attractive..

I have been trying to think of a CF tattoo to get as well. I have been racking my brain, but have yet to be able to think of anything. I do like Allie's suggestion of possibly designing one together. I think that it doesn't necessarily have to visibly incorporate CF unless you want it to. I have two tattoos and I think you fall in love with a tattoo when you get it. I do think that contemplating it for a while is a good decision, but there's something about it that makes me thing it will not be regretted unless it's just something ridiculous. Best of luck and let us know what you decide!

hey i'm only 16 so obviously i don't have a tattoo, but i was thinking, which usually leads to stupid or dangerous things lol, but anyways take a marker and write the tattoo on yourself where you want it and keep that for about a week before actually getting the tattoo so that if after looking at it for a while and you want to make changes you can. I don't really plan to get a tattoo but thats just me, tattoos on skinny guys look dumb to me. just trying to help maybe a bad idea but it happens, just my 2 cents worth

i have a tattoo already ( which has no meaning other than i was pretty dumb a few years ago! ) but i was also looking to get a tattoo for Cf, i think the rose thing is nice but not very original. I was looking for something to symbolize protection. I wanted to get it on my rib cag as well. Anyone know any ideas of maybe an animal that symbolizes stength or protection? Sorry I have no suggestions to help you out Melissa but I think it woul be so special if your hubby designed your tattoo and it would be so much more meaningful and beautiful!!

Okay I've been thinking for a very long time about a tatoo for myself. First I was going to get the Japanese Kanji symbol for love, just because I have been obsessed with that symbol for years. But then it dawned on me... I don't speak japanese, so that's kind of pointless, even though I love the symbol.

Have you considered anything with a purple ribbon? Since the purple ribbon usually relates to CF. Something like a purple ribbon wrapped around you and your husbands wedding rings.
Or is there a language that you or your husband speaks fluently? Is he of a cetain ethnicity that is important to him? You could get "Supporting Cystic Fibrosis" in his language.
Or, you could just have some saying tatooed, like "But you don't look sick" with flowers.

But still, as awesome as surprises are, I think the sweetest thing would be some CF related design that he, or you and he designed.

Once I think I've figured out what kind of design I want, then I have to figure out where to place it. I know Emily has hers on the top of her foot. I was thinking ankle, but heard the bonier parts hurt more?

Liza, I have a tattoo on my ankle. It's not right on the bone, its about an inch and a half above it. Boney places do hurt worse, but that spot right above the bone is pretty insensitive. It didn't hurt much at all, it felt like someone was writing it on me with a pen, just pressing kinda hard and going over the same spots over and over. I definately think it would hurt worse on the top of the foot than right above the ankle bone. For tattoos on girls I like the ankle, wrist, hip, or shoulder blade. Anyways, just my 2 cents...
