water fountains

i was at walmart this afternoon and was waiting in line at the checkout and this little kid walked up to water fountain and i'm not sure he had ever drank out of one before and gets up on his tiptoes, puts his mouth on it and gets a drink.
i had never thought about it before and i never have drank out them often, i just don't like them, but think about everyone who's gotten their spit all over it and the little snotty nose kid who put his mouth on it and even if they are healthy people who might have whatever bug on their hands when they push the button on the waterfountain, does everyone avoid them? i'm definately going to now, i'd rather get a little dehydrated than drink out of one now

I HATE HATE HATE THEM! I work in schools, so they are all around and now they have signs posted saying do not put mouths on them.

The last time I used one, I hade no choice. I was subbing in this class and they had an assembly in the gym, so we walked down there and I had to sit next to them and stay with them, obviously. I mean yea there were other teachers around, but I felt bad. So I had to keep sneaking behind the screen and hacking my brains out and using the icky "bubbler" as we call them in NE.

I would never use one either for the exact reasons you mention. I would seriously doubt anyone ever cleans and disinfects one of those. I remember drinking from them as a child and also drinking from a garden hose, but now that i am older and wiser i would never do either.
