Okay, My son is now almost a year old...And we have been given the okay at his 1 b-day to switch to regular milk.....but for every six ounces of milke to add 1 scoop of formula. This is great news!

I have been boiling his bottle water, and water I add to his rice cereal. Should I calm down and now let him have tap water with his cereal or even to drink? I know I have typed this kind of post before but,was wondering what kind of changes you moms & dads made at your childs first year.....I have been spoiled using is infant car seat in stores, and now he has a big boy carseat. We recieved a shopping cart cover thing for him to ride in to give a little buffer between him and the cart. I plan on wiping the carts with lysol sipes, and purel my hands like I did before...Thanks

I have always used tap water but I have a well not city water. If you dont have good water you could use bottled but other wise tap water is fine in my opinion.

Hi Sarah,
I originally just used tap water for my son but switched to a Brita water pitcher due to very strong chemical smell in the water this spring. My son has not had any problems with tap water. My son is now on Pediasure/Peptamen Jr. so we no longer have to mix anything with water.
So if you do not feel comfortable switching to faucet water then I would recomend some kind of filter you can put the water through first. The strong chemical smell in our water is gone but i still use the filter. Plus the filtered water makes good coffee!!
I also think wiping carts down befor using them is a must! Especially if you have a child that every bug they get is 10 times worse then a healthy child getting the same bug.
being the mom of a cfer may mean a little more hassle but knowing it will help keep your child well is so worth it!
Best of luck to you, and know that when it comes to the health of your child that you have every right to act a little crazy!

Sarah,

Do some researching on the internet...you will find that the best way to purify your drinking water is with a reverse osmosis system. We bought one that you install under you kitchen sink, if your hubby isn't plumbing savvy, you might need a pro to install it. We purchased ours at Home Depot for around $200.00.
I also wipe down the carts before putting Zoe in them, it only took running into a friend one time in Wal-Mart with her newly dignosed feverish-pink-eyed child in a cart for me to realize how easy it is for our kiddos to be put in those same carts 2 minutes after they get out of it!Ugghh!!
Good luck with your decisions!
