WBC ESR and CRP hardly rise with an exaserbation!!!

I have never been treated based on lab values. I almost never in my entire life have had a very high WBC.. only when I am on IV prednisone.

I will say I have been on IV antibiotics now for about six weeks ( I think) and just last week I started Amikacian last Friday, that drug kicks butt, in just one week I have noticed a big difference.. SO far after one week my kidney levels are good, which is good because I am going to be on this for one year....


I would not agree with treating based on labs as much as symptoms..and sputum cultures..... I am a huge fan of sputum cultures these days... since that is what ultimately decides what will work....

Tom.. sorry this is the wrong spot for this, but how are things going with getting into med school?? I have been thinking and thinking of you... Hoping you got some good news

Jennifer, thank you for asking. I have been accepted to one school and am expecting an answer from a second next week. That will be #1 & #2 on my list...so then I have to pick. But either way I start Aug '12!!!!

Jenn, so glad that something is working...I hope it keeps working for you! Wow a year, man I can't even begin to imagine what your skin is going to be like after having dressings on them for a year. Fingers crossed that the amikacin knocks the MAC out and that you continue to feel better.
