Since I am new here I may be asking a dumb question but any chance you are pregnant? Hormones can do a # on your ability to gain weight sometimes. There are a # of women at my clinci that got pregnant on accident

Nope I haven't changed any meds and I am not pregnant as I had my last period. I am trying to see my doctor but he is booked for the next month or so. It just seems like a lot of weight to put on but I have no idea what it could be a symptom of.

Strange question, but has your eating pattern changed recently (eating at different times, more spiratically, etc.)

I've found (and haven't proven it, it just seems so) that when I eat regularly, on schedual, three meals a day, my weight pretty much stays constant. But if I'm having a totally weird month and I'm eating really spiratically -like not much food one day, then tons the next day, skipping breakfast and having a huge lunch to cover, weird weird eating habits like that- it seems my body doesn't quite know what to do with itself and starts gaining weight. During these times I never feel very well, because my body is totally confused, but I seem to gain weight.
I'm not sure that that is what it is, it just seems to happen that way, does anybody know anything about this?

This is a very great possibility. I cant believe it slipped my mind. MY niece is dealing with this. She blew up like balloon and is getting married in August. She hasnt gotten any real results yet with what ever meds they gave her.

I would agree with thyroid issues being a possibility. Fast weight gain or loss is a symptom of thyroid imbalances.

I would think it could be fluid (water weight), my theory is if you haven't been feeling that great then chances are you aren't as active as you would normally be - which would more than likely make you sweat less but at the same time you're probly drinking more fluids than usual because you get more thirsty especially if you run a fever occationally, and if you're like me you probly crave more salty foods. That's a good combination to cause your body to "soak" up more fluid weight, especially if you're not that sick that it is really putting you out of commission (if you understand what I'm trying to say) and causing your immune sytem and metabolism to really kick into high gear - which would cause the weight lost you're talking about that you're used to, but rather you just feel groggy and are funtioning a little slower but still able to keep up with the majority of your regular daily activities. That's my 2 cents anyway.
