I'm so sorry to hear all this and hope you're feeling better soon. Does this sort of thing just "heal" itself? When can you get the chest tube out? Please know I"m thinking of you and praying for you.

Update: Since I'm conscious right now, I thought I would try to post an update. I'm starting to get withdraws! haha. I miss everyone! I got my chest xray on Monday, it showed I still had about 5% collapsed at the top and I was to return on Saturday for another xray (I'm going to be glowing soon). I went Saturday and about half of what was there Monday is still collapsed. It is at the very tip top, about the width of a rib. I know when my whole lung re-expands they will turn off the guage that lets air out for 24-48 hrs to see if my lung can handle it on its own. If it can, then it will be taken out. If not, we will reopen the guage and try again. I asked how long it would take and he said each person is different, anywhere from a few days to a month! I have to say, chest tubes suck. So uncomfortable. Between pain and pain medicines side effects I'm not able to eat much so I am loosing weight, good thiing I had a few extra pounds to spare. It's been a long week.

mum2kj: They put the chest tube in under conscious sedation and local numbing. He just pushed it in. I got to give it to my doctor, he was slick enough I didnt feel anything.

Thanks again everyone for the prayers and well wishes. I will keep you guys posted. Hopefully it will be over soon.

Oooh it all sounds scary as!! I'm glad that the putting in of the tube didn't hurt! I bet the thought of one going in would have been frightening. I dread this kind of thing happening to KJ. Thank you for answering my question <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

My fingers are crossed that your lung expands, and stays up!!

I wish you the best and get well soon.
