Went toe BEF Night- Met Boomer

We went to BEF night at one of our local clinics (not the hospital we go to, but in our state) last night and the featured speaker was Boomer Esiason. It was a great night and a really great talk by Boomer. In case you don't know he is a famous football player and has a 16 year old son, Gunnar, with CF. He has his own foundation BEF, that does so much good and also give a lot of money to the CFF for research. He talked in detail about his personal experiences with his son and CF and brought me to tears several times. I would encourage you to go and listen if he comes to your clinic or hospital. He let us ask questions and stayed afterward to take pictures and sign autographs.

We also got a surprise and Colts Super Bowl Champion Long Snapper, Justin Snow came too and he took pictures and signed autographs as well. It was really a great night! Thanks to Boomer for all he does!!

Boomer's going to be in Madison in July. It's beign presented by the UW-Madison CF clinic. OUr clinic jsut sent us a flier. I think my husband and I are going to go and stay overnight in Madison...make a mini, mini vacation out of it. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed hiw talk. When we got the info in the mail I though, "Oh, I'll be in tears over his talk, for sure!!!!" Wonder if he'll bring a surprise guest with him to Madison???

He was really great. I'd go and see him again if the opportunity presented itself.

There was a young woman there that has CF and somehow it came about (I can't remember how exactly) that she didn't have access to the internet because she didn't have a home PC. Right there, Boomer called to one of his assistants in the crowd and told him to make sure that young woman got a computer. His assistant ran right over and took down a bunch of information and a new PC was on it's way! <img src="i/expressions/present.gif" border="0">

He is a great liaison for CF!
