Wet coughs after feeds

I have yet another question for everyone! My son has been having a wet, juicy sounding cough for a couple days but only after eating (bottles). The rest of the day his coughs are pretty dry, if at all. I called the center and they said to increase the CPT and watch him for the week. (We go to clinic next week.) I was just curious if this has happened to any of your kids and if this is "normal".
Thanks,
Carrie mom to Sam w/CF

My son with CF is 3 and gets the wet cough after eating/drinking fairy often. He's got it right now. Usually it sounds like drainage going down rather than like anything from lungs coming up. We've talked about it quite a bit with his CF doctors because it makes us nervous. No definitive conclusion has been reached, but here are some of the things that have been said. The whole time, though, he's never had anything but a "clear" report when the Dr. listens to his lungs or xrays them.
1. Milk encourages mucus - my son's "milk" is a mixture of whole fat milk, whole fat yogurt smoothie, and half/half so it's a good bet that this is having an effect
2. Allergies - we live in an extremely allergen-prone house and neighborhood (a dozen mature oaks in the front & backyards within 50 feet of the house, for example) and there is a definite increase in this symptom when the trees are going crazy.
3. Tobi-related - tobi is an irritant and there tends to be more coughing when he's on tobi.
4. Normal colds - normal tots pretty much are always getting a cold, having a cold, or recovering from a cold and we try not to fret too much about when he's just having a normal cold.
5. Reflux - my son had terrible reflux until after his 1st birthday and even now can have it happen if he's too active after eating. The Dr. said just the other day that the reflux could also be a contributing factor.

Hi Carrie,

My daughter has moist coughs every now and agian. She actually has one now, but her doc's said its of no concern as her chest sounds clear.
I too get very nervouse about the whole thing and wonder if its gooing to turn into some sort of infection. But in the end i have to have faith in her CF docs and hope they are doing the right thing.
Also on occations, the docs said it could be allergies and the cold wather doing it. Eg, her coughs sound alot worse in the mornings, when its coldest. So it might be the cold air causing her to feel irritated and then she biggins to sound better in the afternoon.
I'm not sure. I just pray its nothing and that our children live a full and healthy life.<img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">

My daughter is 3 years old also, and she tends to have a moist cough after drinking milk or especially eating ice cream. Other than that she does not cough that much even while doing her vest, sometimes we have to tell her to cough. I also get very nervous when she has the moist cough after eating.
