Hmmmm...... Claritin D 24h can cause the rapid heart rate. Are you SURE it wasn't claritin D?

A regular Claritin without the D has no documentation of having rapid heart rates.

Does the box look like this? http://www.claritin.com/claritin/en/products/ClaritinD24Hour.jspa

Carly,
If I remember correctly, you were having heart rate issues during your recent hospital stay. If you are not taking Claritin D, I would tend to think that you are having the same troubles you had in the hospital.
Call your doctor.

I wouldn't rule out claritin as a culprit (though I agree that it sounds like you have other issues that could be causing the rapid heart rate.) My sister (no cf) had several weeks of tachycardia last summer seemingly out of the blue. It went on for close to two months. She was skipping beats every minute or two so easily confirmed at a regular doctor's appt. Also had a positive ECG and did the halter monitor thing that confirmed it. The only thing new was she'd been using regular ZYRTEC (not zyrtec-d) for an allergic rash. She quit taking the zyrtec and within a week the tachycardia stopped. Her dr had her try it again a few weeks later and the tachycardia started again. Quit using zyrtec and the tachycardia stopped again. No zyrtec or tachycardia since. She has no doubt it was the zyrtec. In her case, neither benedryl or claritin causes the tachycardia - just the zyrtec?

Jeana, I remember (hopefully correctly) Nightwriter's doctor nixing allergy shots because she felt the immune reaction, even so small and carefully calculated, could be of concern to CFers. Hopefully more people will weigh in.

(I do allergy shots and have no problem; the backs of my arms are sore for half a day. But now, I can clean a dusty closet, or go to the library, and not have mucus streaming out of my nose. I have plenty of irritants that aren't covered by my shots, but I'm good for tree mold, dust, cats and dogs.)
