I know this has nothing to do with CF but, my son was dignosed with chromosome 1 deletion. The very tip of the chromosome is broken off. The exact dig. is chrom1 p36.3. What are the chances he can have 2 diffrent chrom. problems? (this is familt history)

My late husband's family has alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, Marfan Syndrome, and Cystic fibrosis running around in it. One niece has both Marfan Syndrome and CF.

Unfortunately, having one genetic illness does not immunize you from another.
Sucks, doesn't it.

Wow- this blows me away. I just read your post and we wonder this ourselves about this. We have a 5 yr old boy with cystic fibrosis and a 4 yr old girl with chromosome 9q 21.2 q 22.1 deletion. They said her chromosome deletion is a "fluke", but how strange for you to also have a chromsome issue with another child. We have 4 children total, but the 5 and 4 yr old are ours together. I had a son and he had a daughter when we married. (they are healthy) I would like to talk more with you on this. If you want to send me a private message--please do. I know chromosome issues vary greatly!!! We are learning alot, but it is so different from the cystic fibrosis. We learned about her deletion when she was 1 from her having 2 long seizures and running lots of tests, etc..

(SORRY--I just read that your son with CF has the chromosome issue too, I misread, I would still like to talk to you if you want to. )
