what are your doctor's appointments like?

OMG. That was you! I knew my old "nurse career" would come back to haunt me! I'm going to remain "anon" as I don't wish to be known as the slut of this site!

BTW, are you ready for the next round of "cures"?

First, after i'm in the waiting room in my open ended paper outfit, the nurse comes in. She looks strikingly similar to jenna jameson. She is wearing a very tight, white and fire engine red nurse outfit and black stilleto heels. She looks at me with pursed lips and says "So patient, I think I have the cure you need", starts to walk toward me, and this odd 70's like bass guitar heavy music starts playing out of nowhere...

....and then you woke up.

I have to say, I really love my doctor too. Sometimes the clinic itself can be a little slow, but my doc will usually come out to the waiting room and let me know what's going on if I'm having to wait.

I get there, check in and put my mask on. I get called back for PFT's and then a nurse gets my weight, blood pressure and oxygen levels. Then the doctor comes in and finds out how I am doing. She is really good about not only paying attention to my numbers, but also how I am feeling. If I have any new bugs or if I am starting any new meds she takes the time to explain what it is, how it works, and why it's going to help me. I honestly feel like she is interested in my life as a whole, not just my health. She never leaves before we have discussed everything there is to discuss.

I only see the nutritionist and social worker once a year unless I need to see them. for something specific. I also have to note that when I need to call the doctor from home, if it is during working hours she always calls me back very quickly. I had some stomach issues a few weeks back and we talked every day for a week. If I call and I am sick, I am always seen that week, no matter how full the schedule is.

I feel like I am really lucky with my clinic and especially with my doctor. There is also a nurse practitioner there that will do anything to help whether you are in the office or on the phone. It was a hard transition to the adult clinic a few years ago, but I love that they respect my feelings and opinions in regards to my care. UNC gets an A+ in my book!

My boys Drs appointment are normally great. As soon as we get there we are put into a room. They are then taking to be weighed and give their sputum sample. They come back to their room and then are taking for their pfts. Then back to the room where we are visited by their social worker, physiotherapist and dietician. Lastly the Dr comes in and if there is a need for blood work or x rays we go from there. Its like one big happy family and the boys are very comfortable with everyone. We talk about different treatment, new meds, the boys health in general, or any other concerns .

I can't share the rest due to pleasant conversation and all that, but am I the only one this happens to?</end quote></div>

Hahahaha I couldnt help but laugh since the long time nurse at my clinic retired to pursue other avenues in her career....Not the Nursing part, but the NUN part. I can picture White haired Sister Maureen in red dress with black stelleto heels. LMAO!

long waits, yet short and superflous. I only go to meet the politics of potentially getting lungs one day. I heard that if you are not a compliant patient and attend regular appointments than you are more of a risk to the success of a lung transplant. So I go, and I suffer the sheer uselessness of the visits. Only when I am truly sick does anything seem to be accomplished.
