What can affect O2 readings?

LisaV,

I'm glad your husband was able to live such a full and active life with the O2. I am sure that no matter what is decided in the future as to the cause and whether or not O2 is necessary or just a change in my routine is necessary, I will do whatever it takes to make my heart and lungs as healthy as they can be. Although I was a bit resistant to O2 with exercise at the gym, there are ways around my "insecurity" issues and if O2 is warranted, I will most certainly not let vanity get in the way. I am very heart-concsious getting ECHOs every couple of years and meeting with a cardiologist when even a little thing like heart palpitations has me worried, so this O2 and HR thing will not be ignored by me. Rest assured. I appreciaet you being candid with me regarding your husband's situation. It sounds like you were very strong and educated for (and with) him. I can tell by all the links you've posted me that you are very dedicated to educating yourself and others, and I appreciate that.

As I said, I will keep everyone posted when my docs finally decide what they're going to do with me and what they think about all the information and comments from this site. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Thanks again.

Hi Sonia,

I don't have cf (daughter does) and i don't really have any knowledge about HR and o2 saturation, but i just want to say that i think you are doing the right thing asking all these questions and that i believe you will absolutely do what is best for your health. I think it is reasonable to question if air quality and allergies effect o2 saturation to treat those issues if they are concerns for you. I'm looking forward to hearing what your doctors say about this but I hope it turns out that you are NOT in dire need of 02.

I think that reducing the intensity of your workout sounds like a good plan and that by doing so (and contacting your doctor about your concerns) you are acting very responsibly.

Good luck!

Sonia-

I think you are doinga great job not taking yoru clinics eased back attitude of do what feels right even though it is what you originally wanted to do. Good for you to educate yourself as much as possible. THough initially you were appearing very resistant to needing O2 I can see you are just educating yourself while pushing your doctors to do the right things for you.

I wanted to tell you that as a result of all your postings I will be putting O2 monitoring during excercise on my list of things to request at my next clinic visit. Dont think you are posting too much on this because it is a good point that docs are not monitoring yet, just like before they never monitored thiings like bone density diabetes etc utnil it became a problem.

My clinic told me honestly they never used to even think about these hings becuase we didnt live long enough to warrant worrying about it, then the only goal was keeping us alive. Well I for one, and I am sure you, plan to live a very long tme and I want a good heart to carry me through!

so thanks for all your honest posting!
