What causes tune ups?

Okay, I wanted to know what are some reasons for tune ups?...Knock on wood we haven't had any colds or runny noses yet. I assume Tune Ups are for when the kids catch certain things that nebs/cpt fix....Can you tell me just a little please about how tune ups....Have you ever went to CF Clinic, and then been admitted into the hospital without expecting it....Say if your child had seemed to be healthy...Forgive me..I just thought I ask..So, I stop being so scared of this.

Tune ups happen when the doctor notices a reason for aggressive treatment. It could be for a drop in PFTs, infection on an x-ray or a cough that won't go away. Usually the doctor will suggest a course of antibiotics if things don't improve after oral meds.

Yes, my kids have been admitted from a clinic visit. Once one kid had pneumonia and the pediatrician sent us to clinic to be checked.
Usually you have a gut feeling something is wrong, so although you're not expecting it, it isn't a complete surprise.

My daughter's only IV course came after MONTHS of intermittent cough/weight loss/ and oral antibiotics. We knew it was coming, honestly. It wasn't a shock. After months of these symptoms, she developed a stomach bug and was vomitting so much she became dehydrated. They wanted her to get IV fluids and decided that based on the previous few months that since they were going to get an IV anyway, that we should start course of IV abx.

According to our doctors, once there is chronically colonized bugs, tune ups become more frequent and even planned.
