What do broken bones feel like?

I hurt myself when I was going to work this morning; I jumped over a fence, and when I landed on my foot it hurt a little to walk. It wasn't that bad, so I went on to work, but about three hours later my foot hurt so bad I couldn't walk and I had to go home early. It hurts most across the bridge of my foot. I do have a small range of motion, but I can't lean forward at all. I've been using heat pads for the rest of the day, and they've been helping a little.

Anyway, a friend of mine told me I might have a hirline fracture. It seems to me if I broke my foot I would have known it right away (I've never actually broken a bone before, so I do't know). Anyway, I do have some osteopenia, so it's possible, I guess. My foot isn't killing me, it just hurts and I can't walk on it. Also, there's very little swelling, and it really doesn't hurt when I examine my bones with my hands. What do you think?

Depending on the location it is difficult to tell a bad bruise from a hairline fracture without an xray.

It is amazing the pain a bad bruise or sprain can cause, but if you are in doubt.....better to have it checked.

I have only broken (hairline fracture) my toe which they dont do much about except tape it to another for stability. They call this piggy backing.

When you take your shoe off & cant get it back on that might be a problem!

Good Luck

I have broken my right arm twice, and my left arm once, and my foot. Every time it felt different. My foot didn't really hurt as much when I broke it but I always would swell. I would say ice and elevate and if it continues to bother you then go to get an x-ray.
