Hi Cindy,<br>Hemoptysis is a scary thing.. First off I always call my Dr. Because I am on blood thinners it can get pretty hairy ..<br>They usually have me stop Vest & Albuterol.. Sometimes they add vitamin K ..<br>The last time I had it it was pretty bad (at least for me) so I was hospitalized (it ws over a cup) ..I have heard that it can coincide w/ a woman's menstrual cycle..I usually rest as much as possible & pray !! I hope you are feeling better soon..<br><3 joni

<P>My doctor puts me on Vitamin K in addition to me already taking Source CF vitamins. If I'm in some pain they will give me Hycodan (a cough suppressant mixed with pain killer) to alleviate the pain and to prevent more bleeds.</P>

Hmm. I dont cough up blood, but I break ribs all the time from coughing. Major bummer.

I have only had two bleeds (both very minor) but what *always* stops them, or even streaking, is doing my pulmozyme early. I don't know why and I wouldn't recommend it if you have irritation already from it - but it works.
