I don't have a CF center here, but upon my visit to Colorado, almost went to the Denver Clinic, or the National Jewish. I guess my sister didn't know enough doctor friends in National, or I would have gone. I had a major problem in respects to insurance, I had none!!
So, my sister brought me to where a colleague of hers had his own office, and he did a general 'inspection', and his conclusion was that I wasn't bad for a 40 year old (I was 40 at the time!) with CF!
Anyway, I try to 'educate' the doctor I have in Japan, and he seems to be a trustworthy doctor, one of the few I've ever met.
I got a "Free" X-Ray last Wed, for a lung cancer test, but I'm sure they'll be flabber-gasted at the results! I hope to be able to take the X-Rays to my doctor, and get another FEV test done...thinking my FEV has increased since I've been able to get the strength back for my Iaido.

Anyway, I will be considering on location when I go back to the States...do they have any CF Centers in Honolulu???

How I got two posts in one click, I don't know, but since I can't omit this cell, did everyone a favor by not having the post written twice!!
I just realized it, when I came back to see how the post was going!

We travel 3 1/2 to go to my son's cf clinic. There are only 2 cf clinics in my state and they are both a long drive. They are really good with my sons care. Very attentive and always there when I call and need them. It is well worth the drive. We too pay for our own expenses. We normally don't get apts till 1 or 2pm but we drive up and back in one day. Can't afford to do otherwise. We have a local doctor he sees here for regular stuff and if she gets sick and he has to be hospitalized she tends to him till they can get him to his cf doctors. They actually stay in touch with all his care. She will call if she has any concerns of his cf. So I quess I can say I am lucky.
Hope the test comes back neg and I wouldn't worry to much till you get the test results.

Thanks all!

Even thought Courtney has CF I am not real up to date on the CF centers since Courtney goes through the military hospitals.

I appreciate all the input!

If you do have to taveel 3 hours to the CF center, I would suggest getting a local general practitioner as well, for emergency appointments and stuff. The local doctor doesn't have to know about CF, you just need to set it up so he/she can call the CF center for advice and whatever questions he/she might have.

That's what I did as a kid, anyway, and it worked out well.

That's what we try to do, unfortunately, with a couple of our local doctors, we're dealing with ego issues and they won't play nice with others. We're in the process of trying to find a good local doctor.
