mY DAUGHTER WHO IS 18 MOS WITH CF,WILL NOT SHOW ANY INTEREST IN FOODS I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING, SHE BARLEY LETS US GET THE ENZYMES DOWN, SHE HAD A G-TUBE PLACED LAST WEEK, SO I AM WONDERING IF SHE IS JUST TO FULL FROM THAT. SHE DOES HAVE HER MOMENTS LIKE CHICKEN NUGGETS AND FRIES, BUT I AM NOT GONNA MAKE THAT A EVERYDAY THING. SHE IS FULL OF ENERGY ALL THE TIME, SO I KNOW SHE IS GETTING SOMETHING, SHE DOES DRINK HER BOTTLES VERY WELL, BUT GETTING HER TO EAT IS WEARING MY PATIENCE.. I GET SO UPSET AND I JUST NEED SOME GOOD ADVICE WITH SOME TRICKS...

My daughter got a feeding tube and fundo last month. We are REALLY struggling to get her to eat during the day. I thought it was bad before she had the feeding tube placed. Now she just refuses almost all of her food. Don't have any ideas to pass your way.

You're probably right about her being full from the g-tube. It takes a while for the stomach to adjust to having a tube shoved in it. Did she have to fast for a few days after the surgery? If so that would shrink her stomach and it just needs to adjust to having food in it again. You can also give her something she likes and try to sneak other stuff in there with it. Say instead of fries with her chicken nuggets giver her apple sauce. She'll probably be interested in food a little at a time again.

It is also apart of the age. Jaden went through the same stage. I swear she lived on goldfish crackers for a month. Hang in there.

We are going through the exact same thing! I have little one that will be 18 months in a week, and all she wants is chicken nuggets and yo baby yogurt! She runs around playing like a mad woman though, and never seems tired even though she barely eats! Our clinic suggested Carnation Instant Breakfast in her milk for extra calories and vitamins and she loves it. And the crazy thing is during all of this, is she is gaining weight! Not a ton, but her percentile went into double digits finally! So who knows?! But it sure is stressful and I would love to hear what others have given their picky eaters.

Picky eating is that luck of the draw thing you can get with any kid, CF or not - and my boy w/CF is one of the picky ones so I can sympathize. We pretty much offer him everything we eat but let him eat whatever floats his boat; lately it's been hamburgers, chips, smoothies, and ice cream sandwiches...his diet may not qualify as "good", but doing with him the "it will sit there until you eat it" thing just is not going to happen. And his snack bin is the envy of all his non-CF veggie-eating playmates so there is a sort of funny side to it when the other parents cringe at all the salty, fatty snacks !

I try not to let it get to me or to take it as an indication I'm doing something wrong.
