What do you take for a multivit?

Hello!

Just curious what everyone takes for a multivitamin? I'm not wondering about other supplements, though I know we take many...

I know we should be (and I do take SourceCF multivit) taking multivits specially made for CF. I have taken ADEKs and Vitamax in the past, and just don't see much difference in any of them. Just curious what everyone else's experience is and what they prefer?

Also, just letting you know, for those of you who don't know already, if you get the X-GEN brand of colistyn, you get a free bottle of sourcecf vits. I get my colistyn through CF Services and you just have to enroll in the program for the free vits. GREAT deal! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hi,
I take Garden of Life Multi Vitamins, they are great. Help me get a solid night of sleep and have lots of energy. Worth the cost!

Is it only the ADEK that we need to take water soluble? So, is it ok (and do they get absorbed) to take other OTC brands as long as we're taking a from of ADEK? I was under the impression that all of our vits need to be formulated for CF since we break down vits differently? For example, I also take vit C and Calcium, but my dietician has said that I'm probably not getting as much as a "normal" person would absorb of either of these things. What have you heard?

ADEK are the fat soluble vitamins, that is why we need them...we don't natually breaf down the fat so we don't absorb the vitamins. I have taken both ADEK and vitamax...vitamax tastes a little better. Thay are both chewable. Sometimes I also take a multi-vitamin by GNC.

Sonia, What prenatal vitamin are you on? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you are one of the people trying to get pregnant.

ADEKs are better for us than "normal"multivitamins, because they are special. I copied some information:

Indications And Clinical Uses: To provide nutritional supplementation in individuals with malabsorptive conditions. ADEKs uses water- miscible forms of the fat-soluble vitamins to improve absorption in these individuals. It also provides vitamin C, B complex vitamins, and other vitamins plus zinc to supplement dietary intake.

Hi! Yep, I am one of the ones trying to get prego... thought its difficult with hubby 3000 miles away! lol

Anyway, I'm not taking a prenatal, since my dietician for the CF team said to just take my two SourceCF gelcaps (formulated for CF just like ADEKS) every day, and I should be covered. I have thought of taking a prenatal though, but don't want to overdo it with the 2 source cf vits per day PLUS more stuff in the prenatal. What do ya'll think? What did those who've been prego do???

Thanks,
Sonia

I took regular pre natallvitamins prescribed by my OB. At that time I wasnt using ADEK so it was just my Multi & extra Folic Acid to counteract affects from my seizure meds.

I'm also taking folic acid (1 mg/day) when I remember. I'm kinda thinking this will never work out for me, so I'm not very persistant on taking the folic acid.
