what good has insurance done for you?

i know there has been negative talk about insurance since Michael moore;s sicko.
My question is: what has insurance in the present or past has been good for you?
My insurance is good. The only drawback is I am almost 30 and living at home. Mostly due to insurance reason's and the fact that my teaching paycheck isn't very good.
All my dad needs to do is feel out yearly papers for insuarnce to say that i have a disability. The insurance pays for my meds, machince including the vest, and the hospital stays.
Let's share our good stories about insurance to give each other hope and encourament that there are good things about insurance.

hmm...not too much experience with this one as i work full time to get health insurance and my dad has tried to get me on GHPP's CA disability program but I don't quite understand the "perks" of it if you will.

can i ask how insurance plays into living at home?

i know health insurance is a "non negotiable" when it comes to CF, but i must admit i am frusterated by the limits that it has on my life b/c there are many jobs i want to do that don't provide health insurance. i know there is a way around this, but it's overwhelming.

for the most part, i guess, the benefits of health insurance are that i don't have to pay thousands of dollars everytime i get a perscription!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

i can live at home because my dad has good insurance thourgh his job and can claim me as a dependent. if i move out, i will need to get my own insuarance
you can ask a lot of questions at your clinic about insurance. i am sure that they will help you find a social worker to talk to.

We have wonderful private insurance, and were it not for them, we would be deep in debt. Just the other day I got a statement from my insurance provider with the amount of my most recent hospital bill. For us, insurance is a Godsend. We've noticed that when it comes to insurance, you definitely get what you pay for. My insurance company even sent a liaison to visit me in the hospital to see if there was anything she could do to make things go smoothly. My mom's and my jaw dropped. We were stunned that "the big bad insurance company" bothered to check on me.

I've learned that the best way to make the most of your insurance is to be proactive. Never assume anything is automatic, and always ask them what they need YOU to do to make things go smoothly.
