I have no idea what to think about all of this. My son has been sick this week. First day projectile vomiting, he couldn't keep anything down. His stomach was bulging and then diarrhea followed. The vomiting lasted one day but he still has diarrhea and is very lethargic and small appetite. He hasn't had a fever at all but today he turned blue/purple. It scared the crap out of me.

I was changing his diaper and he started acting uncomfortable. I grabbed a toy for him to play with while I changed him and he tried to get off of his back. His face turned blue. His feet were bright purple and it started with his toes and then traveled up his leg. His hands and arm did the same thing. He was fully conscious and breathing. I picked him up to take him to the ER and then it started to go away. I called his Dr. and they asked if he was holding his breath WTH? They didn't think it was necessary to see him but said if it happens again to bring him in or take him to the ER. Well I then called them back and asked that he be seen today to have his vitals and weight checked. Does anyone know what this could be?

I can't beleive your doc doesn't want to see him. IMHO your child needs to be seen immediately. Sorry I don't have any insight as to what this is, or any direct experience. It just doesn't sound right, though. Good luck.

Thanks, again I was dealing more with the nurse on the phone. My son's Ped is on leave. I've met the Dr. who is covering for her but I think it's odd she didn't request I bring him right in.

It seems like I mention the words Cystic Fibrosis and the nurses don't know what to do.

Although we are still awaiting genetic testing results any medical problems my son has should be considered important considering all the blood tests they've ran on him. Not to mention it looked like he took a bath in grape cool aid.

I'll update after his appt which is in 1 hour.

Well, back from the Ped's office. They thought at first he was having a seizure but he was making eye contact with me through out turning blue/purple and he was more collapsing, not rigid. Now they think maybe he was just holding his breath......

They did say to call 911 if it happens again. And the Dr. wants me to try to look to see if his gums and tongue are blue. Sad news is he's back down in weight. 17lbs. 12 oz. He's almost 14 mos old.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We should have the genetic results next week.
