Don't worry about sleeping on your left side. The reason for the "left side" push when pregnant is that is suppose to facilitate better blood flow. However, there are many different opinions about this and the main important thing is to keep off of laying FLAT on your back. Because this puts pressure on the vena cava. So if you can lay on your right side more comfortably, do that. If you can lay on your back and then have DH slip a FIRM pillow underneath so you are at a little bit of an angle, on either side, that will work too. Just as long as you are NOT flat on your back.

Christian, I took that ceflex whaen I was pregnant too. I don't know that it made me feel uich better, but it is safe for pregnancy.

As everyone said, the left side is best fro blood flow, but not mandatory.

I truly hope you don't have to be admitted. Are you doing any of your natural remedies? Can you stomach some garlic? Have you been able to do any of your hypertonic saline?

Keep us posted momma! I will be sending lots of healing vibes your way. Get better get better get better!

I hope you feel better but maybe a hospital stint will get you back in tip top shape for when your little bundle comes. I was very unhappy about going on IV"s when pregnant but both peri and the CF doc said used in abbies all the time and pregnant moms. I looked at it as I woudl rather be sick before baby comes than right after birth when there is so much to adjust to.

The differenc between laying on left and right side is very small so not to worry. Towards end I woudl lay couch pillows piled up on futon and sink ito them on my side and then switch to back a bit (like Julie described) and the rails around sides futon helped me position myself easier

Try not to worry too much -easier said than done I know

I also wanted to say you wont bother baby by coughing because they are in a big waterballoon so all they are doing is moving around a bit when you cough which they also do whenever you move or walk so they are used to it. My daughter doesnt mind my coughing even now, I think she got used to it!

I hope you feel better

Well I'm not in the hosp. Over the weekend I had a big improvement. Sigh of relief. She is keeping me on the prednisone and Ceftin through the end of the week. I'm not 100%, and I still cough hard-it worries me with the baby. I guess my most constant worry is preterm. They say its the coughing that makes you go early, right? Well I dont' know. I mean, its alot better than what it was for sure. I just get these spasms that go on and on. I hope they keep improving. I'm doing everything I can. So I guess what will happen is out of my control.

Christian,

I am sorry to hear you have been feeling so bad. I've been a little out of the loop since my computer was down a week and then we went out of town. I'm glad you are feeling better now, though.

If it helps you feel any better, I had coughing spasms with my first pregnancy and they did not lead to preterm labor. I do understand your worry, though. It's hard to imagine that all that shaking doesn't affect them. But, as someone else said (I think it was Nicole), the baby is insulated in the sac and just bounces and floats around in the amniotic fluid. I don't think the coughing is what makes cfers go early.

On the subject of the wine, I say have a glass if it helps relax you. I have several friends who drank the occasional glass during pregnancy. The only reason I don't is because I don't like any wine! I am very picky!

I hope you are still getting better each day and keep us posted.
