What is the best way to steralize and clean nebs?

I also use a baby bottle sterylizer - they are not expensive and can be bought by internet or in shop with things for babies. I use a steam sterilizer - but there are also ones for the microwave - also good. After each use I wash the neb with soapy water - tehre was a disciution about this latetly on the forum
- since rinsing is not enough. Some drugs are sticky - and then pop it into the setrylizer. I sterylize before use - about 15 minutes to sterylize and dry.

I bought this microwave one from Amazon for $7, it's cheap b/c it doesn't need any heating elements, just uses the microwave. You just put a little water in and microwave for 4 minutes or so.
"Luvable Friends Four Bottle Microwave Sterilizer with 1 Bottle (8 oz)"

Also CF services sent a whole cleaning kit with my first round of Cayston, it included a plug in bottle sterilizer which I use now primarily.

i buy the medella sterilize bags for breat feeding equipment..they are about 6.00 for a box of 5 bags and each bag can be used up to 20 times. you microwave them for 3 min (dep. on microwave wattage). they were approved by our doc's at johns hopkins. you can buy them at walmart. (btw..we were advised NOT to add vinegar to boiling water to sterilize nebs, they said it was always done that way years ago, but pulmonologists no longer recommend using the vinegar) hope this helps!

We rinse the nebs after use. Then over my lunch hour, I wash them in soapy water, then boil on the stove for 10 minutes.

We were also told that vinegar was a no no. The only time I ever used vinegar was when the water softener wasn't working and we have really hard water. Then I'd soak them briefly in vinegar before washing and boiling.

I believe Amy/Noexcuses has a countertop dishwasher that she uses to sanitize nebs. Have to make sure it reaches the proper temperature for sanitizing though. I have a sanitizing cycle on our dishwasher, but have never used it for nebs.

I wash them.......Boil them for 10 min. Place on paper lined cookie sheet.....Bake at 170 for 30 min. Then leave them in the oven for two days. A nurse with a teen w/cf taught me to bake them.(I let them sit out of my own fear that they might stll be wet) Then put each set/mask in ziplock bags. I have bought a fancy baby botter sterilizer Avent IQ24. It sits on the counter, but haven't used it yet. It was about a $90 at BABIESRUS. Silly purchase.....it's been sitting on our shelf for 2 years....I just prefer boiling...That way theres no risk of error....I'm control freak!

SARAHSARAH253 - you shouldn't worry about the steam and boiling - it gives the same effect - steam is very efficient
And the neb comes ot so hot that it dries in no time. Just takes 10 - 15 minutes to sterilize and dry. Microwave is also very efficient - and one more thing - I never use the sterilizer for anything but the neb - I so nothing more gets in - and We sterilize just before inhalation. If we use drugs - we also wash the neb after inhaltion in soapy water - and put it into the setyrilizer to wait for the next use.
My husband works with germs and bacteria and tells me I'm a freak about this also - but we do it my way anyway
