What makes you smile?

Since we all deal with CF on a daily basis (whether we have it or a loved one does) I thought I would start a thread that has nothing to do with CF...just to get our minds off of it for 30 seconds or more and pretend we are "normal" people with "normal" lives. There have been others I know but not in a while so...

What is the one thing that no matter how crappy you feel, or miserable or grumpy, that will make you smile? The thing that brings a smile to your face and makes you feel better, even if it's fleeting, before you return to mr./mrs./miss grumpy-pants.

Ok I will start. Mine is my dog Maggie. She is a 13 year old toy poodle. I could not live with out her. Like this morning for example...I woke up grumpy because I slept like pooh, and didn't get to sleep till late thanks to a project I have due for class. Well when I looked over she was sprawled next to me with her head resting on my arm and her nose sticking out from under the down comforter. She looked totally relaxed and so much like a person, that I laughed. It made me smile and feel so much better, even if I was slightly jealous that she didn't have to get up and I did. But she is always there and always happy to see me and loves me no matter what...how can that not make you smile!

My son. I know, I sound like a typical proud mom, but his smile just lights up the room and makes me so happy.

Last night I left him sitting on the potty before his bath, while I ran and got his pjs. I came back into the bathroom and he was sitting in the tub with a HUGE grin. "Did you think I was still sitting on the potty? I'm not, I'm FOUR and I climbed into the tubby all by myself."

i would say definitly my friends. there are 6 of us that are REALLY close and would do anything for each other. one of the girl's brother just passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly and we all dropped everything to go and be with her for 4 days for the funeral etc. when we were at the funeral people couldn't believe that we had all come. we were sitting there thinking there was nothing abnormal about that--in our minds you couldn't have kept us away. We all made a pact (sounds very campish i know haha!) a couple years ago that if and when anything happens we will all be there to the best of our ability. it all started with them promising to be there when things get really bad with my cf (like a transplant or dying, etc.) and then it just expanded to life in general. they have all graduated and moved to different places now but it never fails to make me smile to open up my email and have messages or get a phone call, text message, etc. i love them! i guess i'm extremely fortunate to have a circle of friends that care so much.

My car ( my muscle car, not my everyday driver) and my animals would fit in the smile catagory. When i dont feel good or am just in a crappy mood, getting into my 442 and flexing a little muscle always does the trick for me. My animals always seem to bring a smile to my face, i love them all so much
