What makes you smile?

I get a smile on my face every time I see my son playing sports and he runs faster than any of his teammates, or when they run 1/2 mile in gym class and he comes home everytime and tells me he came in 1st and the gym teacher sends a note saying what a great runner he is. BIG SMILE...so much for CF lungs slowing him down. I wish I could say this smile will be there forever and I dread the day CF slows his running down.

What makes me smile?
1. Well, my girls, mostly. They both have their moments, to be sure, but they just are REALLY really good kids. They deal with "crap" and craziness much better than most kids, and they LOVE each other so absolutelly that it makes me cry. I'm not sure I ever had that kind of love with my brothers. I feel like I was able to give them a great gift by giving them each other.

2. My job. SUre, there are crappy times to deal wtih there, too, and some crappy people. But, I LOVE what I do, and this year has just been going so well. I have some great kids, my lesson plans are organized like never before, the kids are teaching me something new every day (did you kjnow there is a certain fox that is actually a marsupial? Oh, and listening to one of my little guys figure out the word "Marsupial" during book share yesterday...HUGE grin on my face! They are learning from what I'm teaching! They REALLY are!

3. Ice. I have been addicted to crunching ice lately. Really addicted. I jones for it in the middle of the day when there is none available. I can' t wait to get home to my icemaker. I know, I should go back on my iron supplement and I am probably doing great damage to my teeth. But, a nice big glass of ice water just does it for me lately.

4. I love it when things just work out. LIke, when I chose an alternate way to work the other day and then heard on the radio that there was HUGE congestion on my normal route. Or, when I have poured out just the right amount of enzymes into my hand without counting...those little things...kwim?

5. Friends. 'nuff said. There is just something wonderful about really really good friends. The drop everything and be there kind.

In general, the last few days I have just felt so blessed. Despite this insane disease, life is good. Thanks for a fun post.
