What preventative measures do you take.

I have always gone far an beyond what is called to keep Lexi healthy. I truely believe that prevention is the key and am at times a little OCD with things.

I was really just wanting some feedback from you all of what measures you take to keep your child healthy. I am looking for things like: air purifiers, allergen bags for pillows and mattresses, air vent covers, boiling nebs, cleaning your home, not using fragranced products, ect.

Boil nebs.

Seasonal & h1n1 flu shots.

Use hand sanitizer or handiwipes after gymnastics, when we get out to the car when shopping, after being at the park, after blowing our noses....

Wipe off grocery carts prior to using them. Most stores have wipe dispensers at entrancese now.

Avoid smokers -- easier now that our town doesn't allow smoking in public places, including restaurants with bars attached, bars...

Sinus rinses.

CPT/Vest and nebs at least 3 times a day for 30 minutes

Change out the hand towel in the bathroom prior to DS brushing his teeth -- so once or twice a day

We clean house once a week. We have a dog, so if I see more dog hair, I'll run the vacuum or broom thru a bit more often.

I do wipe down the bathroom sink so there's a clean surface when he does sinus rinse or brushes his teeth.

I think the biggy for us has always been proper handwashing and cleaning hands after being out and about.

1. Obviously we avoid people who are sick.
2. Wash Hands, Hand Sanitizer, Wipe down shopping carts, high chairs, booster seats.
3. Our son has his own bath tub for himself. We wipe it down with Lysol wipes after each use. We don't use bath mats, and ask his Grandmas not to bathe him if they have bath mats. There is just so much nasty stuff that grows under them. Along with bath time, I have banned rubber ducks or anything else with holes. He uses a lot of different gadgets from our kitchen. After each bath I then wash what ever made it to the tub in the dishwasher. I also did the same thing with his swimming pool. After he got out of the pool I would dump it out then carry it into the garage wipe down with a Lysol wipe let it dry and set it up again the next day. Recently I purchased a BIG Bag of Rubber ducks enough that he can have two at each bath and then I throw them out!
4. We are very COMPLAINT with his treatments.
5. I tossed out all my candles and plug inns and we don't use are wood stove anymore and got rid of our out door fire pit thing. We do however use laundry soap with fragrances and my husband and I both wear our perfume/cologne.
6. After we have small children visit our home we wash up all his toys and start fresh.
7. We accept that we can't change they way other people in are family live we just choose not to visit their homes if there homes are not healthy for our son. We welcome all his Grandmas and Aunties to visit us at our house and most have caught on with the way we manage our home and that we expect high standards for our children's environment.

Which makes it easier for them to offer to watch our kids at our home. It makes things run so much smoother. I'm so pleased that my own mother now offers to watch our kids at our house she chalks it up as "Your house is just already so much more baby proof and they have everything there". I smile and agree and am so relieved not to be the bad guy and pick at the things I don't like at her house. That way everyone wins. I get a babysitter to run errands and my kids are happy with Grandma at our home, and my Mom is happy not to have me nag at her anymore.
