What should I do?

My DD has cultured pseudomonas and the doctor had called in Tobi to the pharmacy.  Since this her first time doing it they want to have her do her first treatment in their office.  The RT said she would have to call me back and let me know when she could get us in.  She said they are really busy on Mondays and Tuesdays.  This was yesterday and the RT's aren't there on Fridays.  I'm guessing probably end of next week but I really want to start this as soon as possible and get rid of it.  Should I start it now or should I wait until they call and get her in?

What is their reasoning for doing it in the office? I have never heard of such a thing. I definitely think she should be started on it now rather than waiting until next week - that's ridiculous! I would call the clinic's on-call MD tomorrow and ask if she can start it right away at home. I don't believe there are any adverse reactions associated with Tobi that would require her to do the treatment in the office.

I've never heard of doing this either and DS was put on Tobi at age 3 months when he first cultured pseudo. I agree with Leah and call the clinic and ask about starting asap.

The only med I've heard of doing for the first time in-office on a routine basis is hypertonic saline... never heard of it for Tobi or anything else. If this were my child, I'd hate to wait- I agree with calling the dr to check on this and make sure there wasn't a miscommunication and/or to see if she can get on it right away.

did they put her on Cipro too?? That is generally what they do with the first culture.
We never had either child do their first dose of tobi at the docs.

blessings,
missa

They wanted to make sure she didn't have a reaction to it. I finally talked to a doctor and he said go ahead start it but to call them if she had any problems. I really didn't want to wait another week. Thanks for your advice.
