So my other post was deleted so I'm asking again. I want advice on how to make your hospital stay comfortable. What to I need to bring, expect, etc.? I'd appreciate your input. Thanks

I like what musclemania70 said! Also, I always bring my own blanket... there's nothing like your own blanket! I also tend to put up pictures and things like that (depending on how long you're going to be in there). I figure, if I'm going to be there for a while, I always make it as close to home as possible. I'm addicted to my ipod, so I always bring that too. Also helps for falling asleep when all the beeps are going off.

and as musclemania70 said, bring enzymes... they always bring meds a longgg time after I've already eaten (at least from what I've experienced).

good luck!

Books, dvd's for in your laptop, maybe even cd's for in your laptop, Ipod.
Comfortable clothing, but I never have pj's or something like that on during the day. Always just wear my clothes. But maybe also pack a pair or jeans that also fits comfortably when sitting on your bed or something.
I never really understand why someone would wear a hospital gown either.. Only time I ever wore that was for surgery but would be in my own clothes the same day. Only time I wore one for longer was post transplant.

Also, ask if you can have all your own meds in your room and take them on your own time. I really don't like it when I have to wait for my meds. Not only enzymes, but all meds. Also maybe your own nebulizer. Ever since I have my Eflow I always take that with me, as it is so much faster!

Our own vest is a great idea. I had dh bring in Emily's jacket part because all they had there was the old black one, and she's used to the newer more comfortable one now and hated having to wear the old one. However, next time I'm bringing the whole thing so the RT's don't have to continually ask what settings we use- all they have to do is turn it on.

Yessss on the enzymes. The toiletries there will be worthless and bring for a longer stay than you think you will need, just in case. Their towels are the size of the average hand towel and pillows are crunchy. Don't forget the chargers for all your stuff. I love the idea of the coffee pot, I am remembering that for next time. Bring a soft cooler and cold packs... you can leave it labeled with your room # overnight in the patient fridge and then bring it back into your room for the day and stuff will stay cold.

Sorry to hear. I guess I can only add

Scrubs
Baby powder
Earplugs

Ask them to make sure they get you the most comfortable bed. In FL they have 2-3 types; one of them is a really nice tempurpedic mattress, the others are horrible blow up types that make a terrible racket and destroy my back.
