I brought short videos on my phone or camera of my daughter. They were very helpful in getting me through the tough nights without her. Its much nicer than just pictures.
Ask for a fridge if you can, and stock up on healthy snacks. I always had yogurt smoothies or drinkable yogurt with me. Also, my own bottles of juice bc those tiny plastic ones in the hospital are lousy and never enough.
A journal-its a good time to collect your thoughts.
A bestseller.
Your own pillow.
Stacks of tabloid magazines. Sometimes I need to be distracted and want to 'read' something but a book is too much, and those hit the spot. You're in the hospital-you've earned some shallow-ness.

thanks everyone. i can scratch ipod off the list because i couldn't even tell you how to work that or an iphone. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> i'm hoping my laptop will last. i need to buy a new battery or probably bring an extnesion cord because it only works if it's plugged in. i love magazines so i will be bringing tons of those. i won't be bringing my vest because i will have cpt done three times a day. i've never had cpt, i've only used the vest for the last two/three years so i'm excited about that. keep the ideas coming.

A box of kleenex. Their tissues are like sandpaper and very small. Also if you rinse your sinuses take your NeilMed bottle and saline. I couldn't believe the hospital had never heard of this.

I haven't had to go in the hospital for years. My stay earlier this year was an admittance from the ER and I had very few things with me and of course it was during the biggest snow storm of the year. My husband couldn't even get home to get me things. In reality though I was too sick to do much during this stay and left as soon as I was able.

It is nice to read about all of the things that people take with them. I had no idea the hospital would allow you to bring so many of your own things. (pillow, blanket, frig, etc)

I'd bring the Vest just in case you crave an extra session you won't be at the RT's mercy. Also sometimes they are on a set schedule and for me I need Vest first thing and last thing before bed. Bring work out clothes and sneakers. Make it clear you don't want to be in bed the whole time. What is their plan for exerise for you? Crocs are great for too and from the bathroom because they can be cleaned when you get home. Ask for a case of water bottles from the cf nutritionist that way you don't need to deal with skeevy hospital water. Some comfort food things you wouldn't usually buy fruit roll ups what ever. Tea. Your eflow. That's all I can think of that others haven't mentioned. I haven't been hospitalized since 2008. I hope it's a good break and that it's a postive, healthy experience.
