What to get a 6 year old?

I received a million throw-away gifts as a child going into the hospital. They were appreciated but ultimately forgotten.

The two that I still have, to this day, are my gameboy and a certain stuffed puppy. I took the gameboy in with me to every single hospitalization after I got it. I'm not sure if that's in your price range, but it won't go unused.

If not that, then some books to read, drawing supplies, stickers are all good ideas.

My daughter loves the beads and jewelry making kits. You can get them just about anywhere. She also loves those felt posters that you color but cannot see any mistakes because the black felt that outlines the picture hides it for you. You can get those at any toy store, Walgreens, Target, just about anywhere. A nice soft stuff animal is always a hit at our house, especially one that can be used to help support and protect the IV site.

Sevenstar, we'll probably skip the gameboy, but it was a good suggestion.
