Hi-

I've had the same wheeze in the same place (middle-rightish side) for a week now....Coughing gets rid of it for a few minutes but then its back. I'm on Caystin now and do pulmozyme and xeonpenex. Anyone have a cocktail of those drugs plus PT/excersize they think will gt this outta my lungs! Usually I don't have problems with CF related breathing- its usually asthma/tightness. Thanks!

I would ask your CF doc about it. Maybe you need some pulmicort. Maybe it is a really bad plug, maybe need a tune up. Maybe collapsed lung. I would contact doc since it has been going on a week now and you said you do not normally have a hard time breathing

Feel better and good luck!

Maybe talk to your doc about taking Advair or atrovent. I have a lot of issues with wheezing and both seem to help me, especially atrovent.

I'm on pulmicort and spiriva. I really think its nothing more than a plug. I'm on a corse of bactrim too now. Anybody have any advice on how to get it out?

I get really bad asthma and my RT talk me a huff cough technique (there's possibly a more technical name than that!) I do it when I'm wheezing and it usually helps get something up. I breathe in as deep as I can, then breathe the entire way out and huff. Huff just like you would in normal physio but the deep breaths seem to help things move more. Try it a couple of times and I hope it helps! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

About the only thing that has helped me recently is to up my vest sessions. I have been doing 3 rather than 2 treatments and finally starting to get relief from my congestion. Plus I am sure my antibiotic has helped as well. I do the huffing in the shower to knock some of it loose as well. The slight steam usually gets me coughing anyway. If all else fails and that doesn't work I have my hubby manually percuss me. He "pounds" my back and sometimes he can get small plugs to move.
