Wheezy cough

He may not need antibiotics but steroids instead (pediapred, orapred, prelone) to clear the wheeze. Or, even just a good antihistamine like benedryl. I'd definitely call the CF drs just to see how long they advise letting him wheeze. 3 days is max for us.

Took Archie to his local GP today and he has put him on
antibiotics. Said he could here mucous in his lungs so to be safe
better start him on a course. Hopefully it clears up quickly. I'm
seeing his CF doc on Thursday - will ask him about wheezing and how
long to leave it before starting meds.
Thanks for your advice everyone.
Salli, could you tell me what you mean by "when I do vibes"? I'm assuming its some sort of vibration for chest pt, just curious. My son is a little older than yours. I heard someone say they do "bounces" as well, but have no idea what that meant either.
Sorry to butt in on your thread, I was reading because my son is dealing with similar issues.
Thanks, Amber

sometimes E has a terrible cough and then when i take her to the
drs he says her chest is clear. i did buy a book called 'the
mucusless diet' which although rather 'odd' in places had some good
ideas. humans are the ONLY animal that drink another animals milk
and did you know there is more calcium in orange juice than milk.
in asian countries they do not take dairy and they have a very very
low rate of all cancers.the government would never promote no dairy
because of loss of revenue.i think dairy is the root of many many
health problems. good luck in your investgations.

Hi Amber,

Vibes are little compressions I do on Archie's chest after CPTing
him. You kind of push down a little (not too hard) and vibrate your
hand so it kind of jiggles. Hard to explain but the theory is if
any mucous has come loose this will help to jiggle it off. I do 2
mins CPT then 6 vibes, continue in that position for 6 mins then
change. Total of 3 different lung positions, 6 mins each position
with 6 vibes after every 2 minute intervals. Hope that makes
sense.
Thank you Sallie. Sounds kind of like something the RT showed us once. She put her hands around my son's ribs, sort of under the arms like if she was going to pick him up. Then when he exhaled, she shook her hands a little to vibrate his chest. But she only showed me once and said to do it when he exhales. I wasn't sure I'd do it properly so I never tried. Something to ask the RT at the new clinic we go to next week.
