Okay,

Here is my dirty little secret...Our son still uses his bottle.......I know we should of kicked it months back, BUT IT's our friend..It's the really true way I know he is getting all his "good stuff"...vitamins/salt/vitamin D.....Okay, I know I should just add it to his milk in the sippy cup...But, our bottle is our friend...Did any of you moms/dads let your little cfer keep drinking from the bottle a little longer, because of being afraid they miss out on the calories they get from it<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I'm brave enough to kick the bottle tonight.......But, would really like to keep it for another couple months.

Ha! I guess I'll confess too..........Briceton still drinks from his bottle, and he's 29 months old! *can't believe I have admitted to it* He loves his na-na and he only has about 2-3 bottles a day, the rest is juice or water in a sippy. We don't take it outside the home, nor does he just walk around the house sipping from it. He prefers to snuggle on the couch and fill his belly full of cold milk!
I know I need to put a stop to the bottle, but dang he will NOT drink milk from anything other than his bottle! For one week solid, I put milk in sippy cups only and the little booger wouldn't have anything to do with it, so back to the bottle we went. All I keep thinking is calories, calories, calories! Although, I know I need to try again soon!

Ok, I am not alone! My daughter didn't have a bottle past 6 months (was breastfed to 1yr & all supplemental liquid was in sippy cups). Unfortunately, since cf forces all of us to be so focused on calories, it's hard to battle those type of milestones. Although Max loves milk, the sippy cup would remain untouched. I have purchased several sippy cups and found the most success with Nuby. It really seems to be a glorified bottle, but at least I feel a little better because he isn't technically using a "bottle". In addition, this brand is a little less expensive than the others that I bought & it doesn't have a small valve that I need to keep track of or clean (the Nuby consists of the bottle, cap & a silicone "sippy" nipple.

My Daugher is 28 months with CF and very poor growth and also still on a bottle. She will not drink her formula out of a cup she says it is icky but takes with just fine in the bottle. She is on 40 cal/ounce formula and if we cut it down she loses weight, she is not even on the growth curve right now. I am not willing to give up the bottle or the calories she gets from it. I talked to our dentist and he says as long as I brush her teeth after she takes the bottle there are no issues with it.
