when did you take out baby?

My daughter is 2 weeks old and I've been either in my house or my parents house everyday since we got home from the hospital. This is our first baby and between the baby blues and the CF news, I've been pretty depressed. Can you please tell me when any of you first braved the big world with your CF baby? Did you keep away Grandmas and Aunts who had colds? Did you feel isolated? How did you handle the situation?

I know how you feel. Aidan was born Sept 16 and diagnosed Sept 24th going right into flu season. We went nowhere really except to people's houses if everyone was healthy. Nobody really held him besides us and his grandparents. It was a little lonely so we just kept busy visiting people- he has tons of cousins who live nearby.

It really paid to keep him healthy that first winter though. A friend of ours had a baby with CF who got RSV the first winter and it is really paying the price ever since. So although its hard, try to keep busy with people you know are healthy. Does your CF center have a support group?

No Support Group. They said we could exchange numbers if we wanted with another family. What does RSV stand for?

Traditionally they used to tell all Moms of new babies to stay in until their 2 month shots. Well as you can see this leads to the baby blues. Personally I went out when I had to but I avoided doing too many or unnecessary trips. I breastfeed both my kids and neither got a cold until they were at least 8 months old.
