When do you find the time to workout

I used to cycle to work daily, but my cycle was stolen. Then we moved up to the upper town and the idea of cycling up a kilometer hill after work is not so appealing.

I also enjoy walking, I joined the local golf club after taking up golf, I try to go at least 3 times a week. After paying all that money, it forces me into using the club, to get my moneys worth so to say.

I also swim but have let that slip also.

Join a club that way if you have paid membership, you would use it.

HUbby and I were looking at our dunlaps (my stomach dun lap over my belt) and saying come on we gotta get back to some form of exercise. I do hike with the kids as often as I can but I need a real workout to balance the body and calm the mind. It's hard but we often have to borrow from each other (hubby that is) to get the things we really need in our day to be healthy. It pays off for them as well. I'm thinking of Tai Chi one evening a week, let DH take over and get kids to bed. You are more patient then I...I'd never tolerate the war games while I'm doing everything else!! I'd be one pissed of lady by the end of the night.

You are inspriing me to get up and going again too.

I can relate to all of you too. I've gained about 15 lbs. since we found out in February that Morgan has CF. In a 3 month time we found out she has CF, moved to a new town, husband changed jobs and we bought a new house. I've been blaming mine on stress too. I just need to get with it and do it. I'm trying to get back in the rountine of working out around 5 - 5:30 a.m. for an hour or so. I use videos here at the house. I LOVE Turbo Jam!!! Have any of you tried it? I think it's the absolute best workouts I've ever done in my life. You should all give it a try. Go to www.beachbody.com and check it out. We're having a small cookout tomorrow night and then I'm getting w/ it on Monday, working out daily and eating clean. No more sweets in the house, that's my downfall and Dr. Pepper! My CF daughter doesn't really like anything sweet at all so it's all going. I've got to loose this weight. I feel so fat and I've got a little over 3 months to try hard and loose it. I'm having reconstructive surgery on my right foot in January and I won't be able to workout for 5-6 months.

Let's all keep each other posted<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I was glad to read this topic because I am the mom of a 6yr old w/cf and I just joined a gym this week. A few years ago I went on a burn out because it was tough working (part-time) and doing all the regular stuff and then adding CF. My hubby and I talked and he took over more of the chores, as well as one physio per day (she does 2/day). I also claimed one night/week to myself.
Over time I forgot about my one night a week....as is so easily done. Now I have put on some weight and gone back full-time, so I am feeling stressed out all over again. This is not good for anyone in the house.
So....I joined Curves. They ask for 30 minutes 3 times/week. My husband always remained active in sports and my daughter has her activities but I somehow got forgotten. I decided to take charge and do something that made me happy. I realized that if I was not healthy and happy that I was being a bad role model for my daughter (not meant to offend anyone). I have gone 3 times this week and I feel much better.
Although I struggled for many years as you seem to be doing now, I have finally decided that it is as important as eating and showering everyday and that it is not acceptable for me to put it aside.
I know it is difficult to find the time but I believe as caregivers we have to find the time in order to keep ourselves happy & healthy so we can take care of others.

Good luck!

WOW... I think this topic was written for me. I can SOOO relate. Wish I could hep, but I haven't figured it out either. I work full time too, (by force, not choice) and have 5 kids. My 2 girls have CF and one of the boys has major learning disabilities (we believe he is autistic but has yet gone undiagnosed...we're still working on that)... Homework is a nightmare every night.... Jacob, the one with learning problems, is in 3rd grade and most nights spends at least 2-3 hours a night on homework because he just can't understand it. (that's another story though)... And of course all the other kids have homework too...I leave for work at 7:00 when the kids go to school and don't get home until 6:00 or 6:30... then try to squeeze homework, treatments, shots, nasal washes, supper, cleaning, etc into 2 hours time so the kids can get to bed. (the girls also do treatments in the morning before school). I used to exercise regularly but since I started my current job (1 year ago) haven't found the time. And I have gained over 30 lbs in that year!!!! I swear!!! It is really freaking me out. I don't have any more time available so I have recently taken to just not eating. I have lost 7 lbs in the last 2 weeks though... It's a start. My husband does help...he does most of the homework stuff with the kids...and the kids all do chores to help with the housework but it's still very overwhelming. I look forward to bedtime at night like most people look forward to a vacation. :) I really don't know how people do it. I have friends who say "you're so strong to be able to do all this"...I think to myself, HA! If you only knew!!!
