Hi, Sometimes if you catch it in the beginning you can get away with oral antibiotics .. They seem to work less as time goes by. If he doesnt improve or his symptoms worsen I would pack a bag & make the 2 hr trip.. About the fever, I dont know why the dr would say not to take anything to bring it down, but I would take something. Why not feel better than you do w/ a fever?? take care. Hope he feels better soon .. joni

Take some advil for the fever. I would not fool around too long for a "tune up". I am sure he knows when he is ready to get it done and over with..... Maybe he can do IV treatment with homehealthcare? Good luck!

Our children's pediatrician says not to give fever reducer unless she really needs it for comfort. A fever is one way the body fights infections. You are reducing your body's natural ability to fight it.

Three days with a fever he should see somebody quickly. It could be something unrelated to his CF but still affecting him. I had this happen to me. I was admitted through the emergency room and spent five days in the hospital with no effect on my PFT's and O2 stats. After five days of observations and blood work they finally told me they did not know what it was but they hospitalized about 4 other people with it during my time there.

i was always told to rotate between Tylenol and Motrin due to the effects that each of them can have on your body over time. i have a terrible time w/ fevers! i seem to run them often...sometimes they'll even pop up out of nowhere, lasting a day or so, then gone as quick as it came on.

good luck w/ your fiance!

We went to the walk in, in the area here yesterday. They contacted his cf clinic and they were comfrortable with admitting him locally to get IV antibiotics to cover all grounds, since the antibiotic that the one call doc at the cf clinic gave him was only for staph. We didn't want to chance it. So he should be getting out later today after the IV's are done. However, he's still not really eating or drinking anything... otherwise he feels better. Thank you everyone.
