Cheys lung involvement started almost as soon as she was born. You know the rest..lol.

BTW, I thought it all could depend on mutations..someone else will know better than I do.

Ashlee has only ever really had weight issues up until now. Tomorrow will be her first admission. She started culturing Staph about 9 months ago and now has a cough that will not go away. She is 5 now.

My infant is 9 months old and has had lung involvement since just after birth.

It just varies from person to person...

Hope he goes a long time without lung issues! AND hope his GI issues can be controlled well.

My daughter is 22 months now and just had her first lung issue scare this past week. She got a cold a couple of weeks ago that turned into pneomonia. Her pulse ox was down below 90, so she was admitted to the hospital over the weekend. Fortunately (or unfortunately, not sure) we were released because Dr thinks she may have just had run of the mill pneomonia, and possibly an asthmatic reaction. We have added neb treatments and albuterol to our normal pt. We go back for a checkup in a week, and hopefully they will so that this is not a cf complication.

I do understand where you are coming from. I feel like I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop because she has been so healthy.

It can vary wildly, I'm afraid. Mutations can point to a predisposion towards certain complications, but then you have cfers like me who throw a wrench in the "conventional" wisdom...I had 2 surgeries as a baby (meconium illius and then adhesions 6 months later), but didn't get p.a. until I was 16 years old and in the hospital getting my gallbladder out. And I'm DDf508 (not to mention thankful ). Go figure.
I hope Zeke is doing well.
