It is wonderful that you have seen such improvement in your numbers. I have found Azithromycin three times per week to be a wonderful addition to my treatment plan!!!

What made your doc give you Advair? Do you have asthma, too? Or are many people with CF on asthma?

Jeana,

I was started on Advair 7 years ago (prior to starting Pulmozyme or Zithro) becuase my FEV25-27 was low, which I think indicates that the smaller airways are not functioning as good. My doctor assumed I had asthma or some sort of reactive airway, and started me on Advair to see if we could get the numbers up. They did go up to the 60's in the next year. I don't know if I've officially been diagnosed with asthma, but nonetheless, the Advair is doing something good.

Hi Leah! I was just informed that my last culture had that same bacteria (Stenotrophomonas Maltophilia). They aren't going to treat me right now because I am not symptomatic. Also-I guess sulfa is the drug they put you on for it-but I am alleric to it. So I'm not sure what I will do when I get an infection! Are they currently treating you for it?

And way to go on the 114% that is awesome!! Your CF sounds similar to mine-about 6 years ago my pft's were at about 60% at the lowest-now I am a constant 95%. Your 114% gives me incentive to get mine even higher!

I to added advair and pulmozyme about 4 years ago-and I think that really made the difference. My small airways (FEV25-75) were about 45% at my lowest-just this last appt they were their highest at 85%!

I'm glad to hear all of this from you!
